Routing cables, what should you keep away from each other?

When routing cables in walls/ceiling etc what type of cable is ok to route together and what should be kept away from each other, and how far apart?

I'm planning on having all these types of cable:

- Mains
- 2.5mm Speaker cable
- WF100 coax
- 3.5mm stereo
- Shielded Cat5e/Cat6

I know straight off that the powerline should be kept away from the others, but how far? And can the others be safely routed together?

Also, is STP worth the extra of UTP ethernet?

50mm apart,is the min for keeping low voltage away from high, i.e mains cable and all low voltage cables, like coax, cat5, any 24v or 12v feeds,

if u can get them further apart then all the better, but never heard of any problems running them together, u'll ony get interference if u got them lying over heavy armours with lots of hertz goin through. its bs standard to keep them 50mm apart.

Does the 50mm 'rule' apply if mains cable is in trunking?

If the trunking for the 230V and low voltage cable is seperate or has a divider within then you can run closer than 50mm.

Dupe...

Not as bad as I thought, 50mm isn't much.

What about the other types of cable, can they be run together?

All your other cables can be run together:

- 2.5mm Speaker cable
- WF100 coax
- 3.5mm stereo
- Shielded Cat5e/Cat6

I would also pop in some UTP cat 5e.

What are you connecting, it seems an odd cable list?!?

Dupe...

It's for a while house so I'm just planning what I need to be aware of when routing.

3.5mm is for RF. Planning is using lots of ethernet for everything including distribution of A/V.
