Floating wall...or not?

I want to build a floating wall in my lounge and think ive convinced the gf to do so.

My TV etc is currently in a left corner of the room with a rad in the middle dining table on the right.

The rad has to stay so the floating wall would have to go in the left space. A part of me thinks it'l look odd if not central in the wall?

The pic shows the rad (middle of wall) and current stand.

What i'm wanting to do is the floating wall for just the screen then build a custom black wood unit for underneath.

What do you all think?

Gary.

Re: Floating wall...or not?

How's it going, I had the same problem, in that the wall I wanted to mount my plasma on had a rad on it, but I ended up building a radiator cabinet and then a floating wall above it. Worked out well, so far anyways! Here's a link to my thread, with a couple of pics for good measure http://www.avforums.com/forums/home-...ting-wall.html .
Cheers,
Dave.

Re: Floating wall...or not?

I must say, that looks very well indeed! A hell of a lot better than mine, so much so, you have me thinking about redoing my own one!
Cheers,
Dave.

The above options all look great, but personally I would think about repositioning the radiator and have the floating wall postitioned centrally, if at all practical, either way good luck and keep us updated with plenty of pics.

Re: Floating wall...or not?

nuff - that looks great i did think of a corner one but didnt want the tv angled towards the sofa as it's straight against the opposite wall.

so thought of doing it normally in that space then adding a corner bit for extra storage. Just wish i was good at drawing so i could do a few designs.

fangface - the original house design had the rad where the tv currently is so we asked for it to be moved central as the tv points are in that corner so the missus doesnt want it moved again!
