Re: Yuki's New Media Room Project

lm still having a dilema on colours....will having white walls ( not the PJ screen wall which will be black ) be a bad idea , as im worried about reflecting light ??
Ive got the colour scheme from 'The Force' , his thread is here and i really like the white, black and grey theme my little effort! .....

Just put some dustsheets up on the Walls to do some spraying- the performance of the pj has definitely diminished; my advice is to definitely have as dark as you feel is possible in order get the best out of your equipment, ESP close the screen. WAF is important however, but I found that redecoration to darker colours was one of the biggest upgrades I ever made

Re: Yuki's New Media Room Project

Well Yuki - this is a project and a half mate !! Sounds like you'll have a corker of a room there. Have you decided on colours then ? Mike's given some sensible info there, and as for the audio out from your pc, the optical out solution sounds good to keep things in the digital domain.

Keep up the good work !

Re: Yuki's New Media Room Project

Ok.....the roof came along great yesterday but the weather stopped it being finished today so tomorrow is looking more likely . The windows and doors should be here this week so im hoping to get the floor insulated before then . Once the windows arrive we can then get the rendering done . Once that is dry i can paint the outside and make it look presentable . The poor neighbours are having to do without a fence at the noment and even less of a fence when the rendering needs doing .... oh well , they are getting a brand new fence in replacement with feathered boards instead of the panels .... i have noticed though that i am right on the border with the roof overhang so once the guttering goes on i may be nudging over the line ... i hope they dont notice .....

ps. i picked up my Denon AVR1909 today for £405

oh well here is the roof so far

Re: Yuki's New Media Room Project

This is one of the first threads I check also. I am looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

I can sympathise with your builder problems. Its just so frustrating to get close and then everything grinds to a halt for days (or in my case weeks).

Fingers crossed, your build should be finished around about the same time as mine. Good luck.

This one is geared to Onkyo amps () but very informative...if this one doesn't help, you are on your own!

I always thought nails were banged in by a hammer, and screws were screwed in with a screwdriver!! (Only kidding)

Great progress so far, starting to take shape now.

Cheers

Re: Yuki's New Media Room Project

lol...very true cosmic , but to just clarify , the baton is drilled through to the block , then the plug is banged into the baton which then has the screw banged into that until it goesthrough to the wall and ....then you screw the screw in ....im learning

Anyway , its now ready for the sparkies on Wednesday and then the soundbloc plasterboard . My chippie put up some blocking for the PJ to mount to eventually .... so i tested if it was strong enough by doing some chin ups .... i weigh 83 kg , this is a good scientific test for support as used by NASA

Re: Yuki's New Media Room Project

Looking good Yuki!
I'm definitely jelous that you've got a detached room to use - my garage is the only way to get into the back garden without going through the house so my wife quickly put a stop to me using it as a cinema! I was looking forward to painting it a dark colour and turning up the volume as loud as I wanted!

Re: Yuki's New Media Room Project

My sub cable is a Monster THX with a length of 5m . This limits the positioning of the sub...does this matter or should i buy a longer one to benefit?
