Brush Faceplates???

I know it's been asked a hundred times before but does anyone know where to get them, specifically in Belfast????

I tried a few places on line but for the £5/6 item they're looking the same in delivery!

I walked past a new build the other day and saw them being used so they can obviously be got!

I've tried Screw fix and done searches for things like - face plate, brush...etc... but can't find anything!

The Aldous website ones would be perfect except when you tot it up it say's £15 quid except northern ireland!

Bit gutted casue it really would finish my job off!

Other option - http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav/na...isSearch=false

£3.88 pick up in store!!!! haha

Re: Brush Faceplates???

Belfast is Northern Ireland so does not cost any more to post a small package by royal mail than it does anywhere else in UK, so dont pay too much for delivery.

A google search for ' single gang brush strip ' will find suppliers.

(I am not allowed to mention prices - forum rules)

Re: Brush Faceplates???

You could make your own.
The plate itself is originally designed as a computer network cable outlet - you add specific cable outlet modules to fill the letterbox hole in. So you should be able to find a local place that sells these cheaply.

For the brush bit, go to your local pound-shop style place, and have a look around for draught excluders. Cut to fit, and epoxy in place - voila! I bought one of the ready-made units, and that's all it looks like to me.

Hey guys,

Saw this post and thought i'd put a bit of input into it.If your looking to buy polished chrome, satin chrome or brushed chrome (black nikel as it's quoted on the website) then try this place. The equipment they sell is flat plate, which in my book is extra nice looking (although if you do fit it i would recommend you make sure you have at least 35mm deep boxes) and very, very well priced and if you order over £100 for UK Mainland & £200 for N.I worth of euipment, delivery is free !
I have these in my house and they look spanking.
Hope this helps some of you guys out !!!

Go to the ACCESSORIES section when you folow the link to find there outlets !!!!

Re: Brush Faceplates???

I made my own using the wood moulding from a hardware store and draft excluder.

Basically, cut a 3" square out of 5mm ply, then inside that cut a sqaure so you have a frame of around 10-12mm

The moulding was a picture frame mould with a rebate. I cut this mitred and made a frame about 4" square. This lined up with the plywood such that there became a slot about all aorund the inside, which was perfect to slot in a cut peice of draft excluder. (You can also hack up a letterbox brush)

Put a peice in top and bottom. I glued all joints/wood/brush. Painted the frame white.

To attach into the wall, just cut a rebate into the wall such the the plywood sits in, but the moulding frame sits on the wall.

This was awhile ago, I couldn't find any reasonble supplier of brush plates. I needed 6 plates, and this method was pretty cheap.

Re: Brush Faceplates???

When I was in Wickes at the weekend they did 1 gang and 2 gang brush plates in white, they where about £5 ish but cant find a link online. They also had plates you could add your own adaptors too have your cables terminated at the wall, but they wanted about £30 for a hdmi termination!! I suppose its a good think these chains are starting to sell this sort of kit, the price can only come down

They're the same ones that Wickes sell - keep checking as they are just coming into Wickes stores at the moment. I think Wickes are only selling the white ones though, not the chrome

Thanks Magslad - just been to Wickes & picked up a couple of 2 gang. (Bloke at the till asked what the hell they were )

If anyone's interested the 1 Gang (Square) plate is £5.99, 2 Gang is £9.99.

Wasn't expecting to pay 20 quid for a couple of these but I need them urgently & they're pretty compact & neat I suppose so will do the trick nicely.

Seeing as they're not on the Wickes website - here's a pic of the 2 Gang if anyone is interested. (They are all White with Black brushes)

Picked up 3 of the double gang ones today - like you say, not cheap but perfect for the job . Good that mainstream places are starting to stock this sort of thing.

Re: Brush Faceplates???

Have you tried the original designer and patent holder, who is not the supplier to Wicks!

This is the original -
ACA-Apex range of brush faceplates, miscellaneous and special modules

But he now has a new design, which I shouldn't be telling you about (oops)

Re: Brush Faceplates???

They are up on the Wickes site now.

Wickes single gang faceplate

I want to make my 'in wall' installation future proof by embedding some conduit in the wall to slide new cables through as and when required. I'm thinking something fairly flat and wide (to pass through a number of cables easily). Does anyone have any recommendations?

Cheers
