Breast and fireplace space

Right is there anyone out there that has mounted there screen to an unused chimney breast and used the space where the fire used to be for your equipment ? If you have please post pics tips etc or at least let me have a link so I can find them myself.
My wife hates our fireplace we hardly ever use the fire so removing the fireplace, blocking the chimney and bulding a cabinet for the equipments seems to make perfect sense or are there too many issues with water etc

Will blocking my chimney cause problems with damp poor air flow.

All advice appreciated.

and so it begins!

Here you go mate!

This is my install that i've just finished! I boxed out the chimney so i could flush mount the tv. Abit more work than usual but i got the look i wanted. I fed the cable through the chimney and down into the space where the fire used to be so i could hide all the cables!

Plenty of pics for you to look at anyway. hope it helps!

Re: Breast and fireplace space

Nah mate,

It was blocked up with newspapers and bags for years before i even touched it!

I've still got vents in the top underside where the fire used to be anyway, so air can still flow!

If your going to go with the flush look that i went with make sure u leave a big enough gap around for a fututre upgrade in telly size! I have a 32" in there but the opening would take my 40" bravia easy aswell if i ever decided to sell the 32", stick the 40" in there and upgrade my other room! haha
