I'm afraid i'm jumping the gun a bit here, but I am hoping to get involved in designing and setting up a home cinema (including hi-fi) room for my best mate. He is getting married next February (I'm best man) and he & his fiance have found their first home (their offer has been accepted) just got to hope they get the mortgage sorted. Anyway (BTW this has been briefly mentioned in other forums) he will have a dedicated room to set up his beloved hi-fi/home cinema. All going well, they should be moving in in November, so a couple of months off yet, but when they get sorted I'll be back on here looking for ideas and posting progress pictures.

So please be patient.

Good luck to ya mate. Start planning now about what cables will be needed etc. I started planning mine a good few months before my place had even finished being built!

You can never have too many cables I say. Future proofing is a must.

Just thought I'd add an equipment list. Nothing spectacular, but here it is anyway:

Samsung 42" Plasma (bought off me for £300)
Pioneer VSX-AX3 AV Receiver (bought off me for £200)
Tannoy 611 floorstanders (front)
Tannoy 605 (rears)
Tannoy 6-series centre speaker
Panasonic DMP-BD50 or 55 (hasn't decided yet)

The speakers are getting on a bit, but they are great performers. Must also encourage him to get a sub.

It's all gone wrong. The person who was buying my mate's fiance's house has pulled out, meaning they may lose the dream home where the cinema room was planned. And, of course, their deposit of £900. They aer not happy bunnies at all.
