Re: Chasing in cables.. question regarding power..

Well, you shouldn't really, however the likely signal loss / interference is minimal.

I ran them all together in my setup with no noticable problems.

A true audiophile would never do such a thing though, lol.

Re: Chasing in cables.. question regarding power..

I am not an electrician.

However I would guess that running a power cable alongside other leads inside an enclosed trunking would not meet electrical regulations.

If the power cable was to get damaged in some way or degraded (unlikely I guess) then you could have the potential of the other leads conducting mains electricity.

Whilst this might not occur in the short term, the longer that the cables were in situ the greater the potential for a hidden problem to occur.

You might find out more on this site : http://www.partp.co.uk/

Or maybe ask an electrician in B&Q.

Good Luck

Cheers guys... maybe if I ran the audio/video cables in the trunking and then the power cable outside the trunking but still plastered in the wall?

Or both in separate trunking. You know it makes sense.
