hi

busy refurbing my living room and trying to sort all my various cable issues.

i have already a single built in coax socket that was used to get roof aerial signal to my tv. it meets the inbound wire in the loft.

i have been using it in reverse to send sky signal from living room up to the loft and then off to one bedroom, using remote eye etc etc.

i have tried to use splitters at each end to effectively share the cable run from roof to living room so i can send sky up, but still receive roof aerial signal down. however this doesnt seem to work (roof aerial signal too weak).

is there any reason this shouldnt work? the reason i want to do this is to avoid having to put another cable run in from the roof, chase in the wall etc etc.

i'm thinking i should just shell out for a booster in loft (+bypass for sky) and it should all be ok, but want to see if anyone thinks any other reasons this wouldnt work? my thinking is if i put another cable run in, it will all ultimately end up being electrically continuous anyway so shouldnt make a difference.

It will be difficult to get that to work as the frequencies are all in the same UHF range.

If they were different frequency ranges it could be made to work with off the shelf equipement.

TBH if you are installing one cable then it is probably best to run in two to give you the best chance of continuing to receive a good signal. Cable can degrade over time and some of the tv only stuff installed into older houses is Sh*t.

not even if i fiddle with the uhf channel that the sky box broadcasts on? I likened it to the old days when your VCR passed through the aerial channels and you had to bugger about with a tiny screw to change the channel the vcr pumped its signal out so it didnt clash
