Cable Channel in Block Wall-What should I use?

Hi, I'm going to cut a channel into a block wall to run cables up to the TV. It will be about 1.2 meters from the floor, 100mm widex 50-60mm deep. I've seen aluminium rectangular tube I could use but is this overkill, can I just box it in and plaster over the top? Would plastic be OK?

For the surround speaker cables what sort of conduit should I use?

thanks.

The whole thing sounds a bit OTT, thats one hell of a trench. I guess you are planning to fit the truncking so you can add cables later etc. The regs say that you can not take anymore than 1/3 out of the block thickness (from memory) so just check this.

There are no requirements on the trunking material, however power and signal cables should be separated as signal cable insulation is not designed to insulate against mains voltages.

The trunking is only really there to help the plasterer.

Dupe...

For all the cables I would use normal steel capping, see attached pics. I would build redundancy into the system design so you don't have to add cables until you decorate again, 5 years?!?.

I'm thinking of using it for HDMI, VGA cables and audio cables to/from TV and making it easy to feed other cables that I might need later Xbox 360..
I'll put a socket on the wall behind the TV for power.

I used flat ducting like this:

Correct for vertical chases; horizontal chases are even less at ¼ (if I can recall correctly).
