Home Cinema Newbie - Cable/Faceplate help

My new house (Timber framed kithouse) is due to be erected on site very soon. I finally decided to throw in a home cinema 5.1 setup however being a newbie with little knowledge I have found myself swarmed in pretty much "shedloads" of info but still none the wiser.

Firstly I have settled on the Gallo satellite 5.1 system which i will purchase in due course however it sneaked up on me that I had not thought about speaker cables at all and the walls will be going up shortly and the sparkies will be in to do various first fix cabling (Timber Frame walls with plasterboard) hence I am now in a panic!!!!

Anyhow I have some questions:

1) Can anybody advise me on suitable speaker cable for the Gallo's? Midrange will do that is suitable to go thru walls etc Just name dropping some brands I shoudl be looking at would be helpful

2) What is the best way to connect up to amplifer etc? I am guessing a 5.1 faceplate for the wall mounted near the amplifer is prob the best way to go?? I have done a quick search and found this kind of faceplate:
http://www.nexxia.co.uk/Wall_plate_C...all_plates.htm

Is this the way to go? I guess then I would simply buy seperate leads to interface between the faceplate 5.1 points and the AV Reciever/Amp etc?

Lastly what is the best way to hide cables for TV e.g I guess people have put in a HDMI faceplate & Power Socket hidden behind the TV etc or is there other solutions?

I plan to have my TV mounted with 5.1 speakers however my audio/cinema equipment is in the corner of the room.

I really have left my research a bit late but to be honest I was a bit suprised when the builders started cracking on with things so everything has snuck up on me.

Cheers

Richard

Re: Home Cinema Newbie - Cable/Faceplate help

Have a look at ACA-APex.com, they make a wide range of modules that would snap into any of the major faceplate manufacturers.

On the rear all the terminals are screw down which is a great help for the DIYer.
