Help with rope lighting

I really like the look of rope lighting behind screens and have decided to get some of the Ikea stuff, but I'm not sure if its going to work, firstly my screen is not wall mounted and secondly its in a corner on a unit so its not really positioned for me to mount it on the wall behind the TV, does anyone have any advice as to how to position it.

I had the idea to go all caveman on it this morning and duck tape it to the back of the TV but then decided against that and to do it properly.

Anyone help?

Re: Help with rope lighting

The Ikea LED's (Dioder) come with double sided sticky pads, so you can stick them on with that, there quite strong, so any heat from the TV shouldnt be a problem.

Re: Help with rope lighting

wicked, thanks.

I wasn't too sure about sticking them to the back of the TV, is it really advisable considering the amount of heat that the lights and TV will output combined?

Re: Help with rope lighting

there's no heat coming out of LED (or cold cathode) lights. Cold to the touch.

Excellent thanks, so there is no real real problem sticing them to the back of the screen then, obviously avoiding anywhere that is open for cooling purposes?

Re: Help with rope lighting

Great, thanks, going to go for the multi coloured Dioders from ikea.

with them bieing stuck to the back of the TV and the TV being in the corner of the room is it still going to look OK? TV is maybe 3 feet away from the wall (at the furthest point)

Will the colour behind the screen affect the on screen picture at all?
