DIY Sub Mk.3 RTP-12 Completed

Coming soon is the RTP-12.

Based around a 12" driver, it will be very similar to the famous REL Q100e.

The sub is being made for a fellow forum member.

Design work is progressing well with the RTP-12.

Things that need finalising, assuming the driver and amp combination to be used (more on that later), are the grill and finish.

Err, kinda box shaped? Made of wood? I dunno. Do you mean what kind of colouring for the finish?
How about a removable grill? Just so I can see it working until the novelty wears off and I leave it covered after that. But that aspect isn't too important to me.

I'm a complete newbie to subs so I am entirely at the mercy of Retro & Taz Productions!!!

Work has been done on the new front baffle for the sub, and a new back panel.

These are due to be fitted this week, restrictions permitting.

Pictures should follow very soon.

The electronic parts for this sub are as follows:

Driver: BSB 12" 100W

Amplifier panel: BSB 100

At the moment the only thing I am pondering design wise is whether to add feet to the sub or not. And then what sort of feet to add.

Its all getting very exciting now!!!

What difference does having feet on it make? Apart from protecting the bottom from hard surfaces? Also, what types of feet could be considered and would you advise 3 in a triangle formation or four (onr under each corner).

The feet thing was throwing me, as you may have guessed.

3 would be more stable, though also potentially a bit wobbly and unbalanced. I'd be inclined to go with 4.

As for what sort. Well i'd be more tempted to get a set of large rubber stick on feet to start with, and then maybe look at buying a set of screw in spikes.

I think I'll add some to the RTP-15 at a later date. This will help prevent damage to the grill cloth.

I'll try to find some spikes links.

I was thinking that they cant be that difficult to fit (can they?) so if you like, I'm quite happy to have no feet on it - makes it easier for you!!! - and I'll put some on later if I think she needs them..

Since the front is veneered, i applied the Fablon to give the look that its a solid block of timber and it works well!.....
