Well, anyone know of any? CPC and Maplin are okay, but I want the Wattgate equivalent of IEC 320 C7 plugs ("figure 8" plugs).

Surely there have to be better quality ones available than the 50p each jobs?

I looked into this a while back without any joy whatsoever,even the ones shown on the Audusa web page which look good are the plain vanilla ones you can buy from Maplins cheaply.Surely someone must know a source?Soldering Belden into the cheap ones was a real pain and I think compromises a good cable !

My point entirely, one can have fabulous cable with top quality mains plug and then at the other end a C7 plug that cost 30p (and looks like it).

Otto Heil looked good for a while, they do a nice chunky figure-8, but it's only available premoulded onto a cheap wire.

I've got no further than Maplin / CPC.

Or Russ Andrews have some little converters from standard IEC to a fig 8 connector ... maybe you can get those either from RA or from somewhere cheeper.

I've got some of the RA fig8 convertors and male to female IEC convertors.
I've opened them up and to be honest I see nothing special about them.
I would guess that RA source them from A.N.Other third party for pennies and shove the RA badge on them.

CPC is subset of Farnell site, and RS no better either. I didn't list my entire research base, but you can bet it even includes US sites like Parts Express (and all the sites listed in the sticky at the top of this group).

My purpose is to make up leads with figure-8 on end. It's interesting that there is a market for quality large IEC but not for the smaller C7 type ("figure 8") plugs.

Dont know why but when i searched tor C7 plugs i kept getting the larger kettle style plugs! I looked at some medical equipment filter they are £10-£15 amp only low current but I wondered if they would do the job?

What C15A plugs? i.e. "Hot" (with bit missing) kettle plugs.

Audusa have a useful page http://www.audusa.com/connectortype.htm that is sourced from Otto Heil website.

"Figure 8" are definately IEC-320 C7 plugs.

Apologies for resurrecting this old (does it qualify as ancient ? Nearly a year ) thread. But did you ever find your figure 8 plugs , I’ve just spent a couple of hours scanning the usual suspects for the things ,to no avail .

RA are doing them for £3.95!

As mentioned in a previous thread expansys do a converter priced at £5.99. I am looking at that as the best alternative to the standard Maplin jobs unless someone knows where they can be had for less.
