floating shelves for my speakers.

Hello there, im trying to put up a couple of floating shelves on my rear wall for my br1 surrounds.
ive thought about buying speaker brackets, but i dont like the style too much,so i was thinking about pure white floating shelves to go in each corner.
ive had a look at the wall and have noticed that it is 10mm plaster board, then there is a gap of approx another 10mm then ther is that grey brick,i dont know if its breeze block or that heavier grey brick.
So, what im wondering, shall i drill through the plaster board into the brick,or do you people think that the plaster board itself, with some heavy duty plugs drilled in it be strong enough.
one of the speakers will be at the top of a staircase,so the stronger the better, thinking about it now, drilling to the brick, then using them metal wall plugs sounds best.
is that the way forward?or will the plaster board plugs be strong enough, the speakers weigh 4kg. thanks for reading.

Re: floating shelves for my speakers.

There is no way I would support 4Kg speakers using only plaster board screws. It might well be fine but I would want the security of knowing they were firmly attached to the breeze blocks.

yeah mate i agree, thanks for your reply,i had a feeling thats what i should do,use the breeze blocks.
I was hoping that the plaster board screws MIGHT have done it for an easier life, ive never drilled into a wall before!!
