Wall panels with flush plasma. how to?

We want to set our plasma into a set of panels like in the picture here:

http://www.kef.com/ht3000/gallery.htm

(2nd row down, 2nd from the left)

We have done some schematics and found we would need around 24 500mm panels. 2 rows of 5 at the bottom and top and 4 in the middle.

We can make them out of mdf I suppose and pad out and cover.

How does anyone suggest fixing these to plasterboard!!??

Any home diy ideas greatly appreciated.

Re: Wall panels with flush plasma. how to?

i've done this sort of thing quite a few times as i deal with padded paneling to walls for a customer of mine who deals with interior furnishers.
If you plan to inset the plasma into the wall and therefore the plasma is flush with the wall then either gripfil the panels on for a permanant install or use velcro self adhesive pads for removable panels.
if you plan to build a framework around the plasma to bring it fush with the face of the screen the velcro can also be used to give hidden fixings.
Make sure you allow for the depth of the panels, velcro and padding.

Re: Wall panels with flush plasma. how to?

hi gary,

thanks so much for your response.

It seems velcro may well be the perfect solution. Atleast we can remove fairly easily when we move out!

Do you think 24 x 500mm panels will hold on plasterboard?

Sorry if I confused you but the plasma is just mounted above the plasterboard (anchorbolted into the breezeblock) by inset I meant on the same level as the panels.

What wood would be the best choice (perhaps the lightest possible)?

Also what padding would you in the trade use!?

If you look at the picture the plasma has a black background, is that just material also velcro'd do you think?

Sorry for so many questions!

I look forward to showing you the results!
