Any ideas as to how to tidy this up?

I've got that same wall paper in my kitchen!!

You could try papering over the wood then painting it - it might blend into the ceiling a bit better perhaps.

Put a box around it. It'll make the pj look wider, but it would be much tidier.

Just don't actually box the pj in, otherwise you may have heat problems and the box will definately make the pj look bigger.

Tough it out with suitable bribes etc. It's like when you decorate, all you see at first is the bits you are unhappy with. After a while, you just don't notice. I think your installation looks pretty tidy and I reckon a box around it would just make it more noticeable.

No much you can do really without tearing down the wallpaper and starting again covering the mounting.

How about some 1/4 round beading around each side of the wood parts, then give the whole lot a nice rub down, use some undercoat and 3 coats of gloss white paint.

I wouldn't use gloss white if I were you! Matt balck would be better but maybe not acceptable. Gloss will pick up any stray bit of light spill and it may end up on the screen.

I am looking for a better pelmet in front of the screen. Would have thought 1/2" MDF would do - something better and deaper than I currently have

If you wanna sketch something up, I will have a look and let you know what I can do mate. don't add beading to that PJ mount, I'll do you something with a nice moulding. Like I say, just send me some ideas/designs I wont charge you anything for the work, just the materials.

As for the PJ the piece of wood its attached to needs to be taken down from time to time so that I can clean the filter. Why no beeding?

The pelmet for the Screen. How would you get it to me coz it will be canny long - over 8'?

No I'm not a carpenter, I'm a programmer for a furniture firm, we have several CNC woodworking machines that I do the CAD - CAM programming for.

The Pelmet wood (

) have to be in 2 x 4' lengths to be practicle to post as for the PJ mount, the worlds your oyster, you sketch it up and i'll make it for you. I can have it veneered or plain MDF or timber. You dont want beading on it when i can mould the same shape aound the edges, far better finish.

Get some sketches to me of designs your thinking of and lets take it from there even if you dont want me to do the work for you I can draw up the designs I dont mind.

As for payment, you will have to pay for the materials at cost but the rest of the work.... I'll meet you in Toon for a few pints when I come up in a few weeks.

It wouldnt fit in me car mate, it would have to be by post, shouldnt cost a lot, not heavy at all. or I could bring the 2 x 4' and pj mount up with me, thats no problem.

This thing with having the pelmet in two halves will mean there will be a joing and how would you fix them together. What thivckness would you use and what would you do. Just wanting to rack your brains.

Pete,

The joint is not a problem, we have a key jointing machine that cuts the ends to take a plastic key, this will bring the ends together tight and one decorated you wont see the join at all.

Give us a picture so I can see where it has to go and what job its going to be doing.

Have you thought anymore about the PJ mount? any designs yet?

Just wondering how you made a mount like that?
I currently have my Epson 700 sitting upside down on a shelf practically hanging off the wall

and it looks hideous

Yours is much prettier! Do you have plans or anything? Also, can such a mount be made that would allow a range of different Pj's to be fitted, perhaps with a different plate or something, 'cos I seem to be changing my Pj every couple of months in search of the perfect one at my (modest) budget!
