DIY Shiva - Passive radiator design?

I've been looking into building DIY Shiva sub using the designs on the Adire site.

My original plan was to build the 142.5L vented Shiva box.

My attention has now turned to using the PR-15 passive radiator - 142.5L PR Shiva box.

Anyone know what the pros & cons are using a passive radiator design?

Pros.....may be possible to extract deeper bass from a smaller cabinet volume this way.
Major con.....often delivers sloppy bass due to poorly damped passive radiator.
It can be possible to get very good results with some of these designs, and KEF used passive radiators some yrs ago to good effect.
