My home cinema and room refurb

This has been an ongoing project since getting the keys to my new house but was put on hold when my baby daughter arrived 13 weeks early.
I wanted the a/v stuff in the new house (1970's) to be the same as I had in my old house (a new build). Here are the pics.

The living room as it was when we bought the house.

First thing to do was get rid of the glass panel beside the internal door (dont you just love the 70's).

Next on the list was remove the pink textured wallpaper.

Plastering all done, skirting removed and flooring started (note cables left for tv install).

The finished article facing the front.

And the rear.

Sorry there are not more progress pics I wasnt thinking about this thread when I started.

Nice job - bright & fresh.

Do you mind if I ask what colours you painted the room? We are looking to do our front room and you have very similar colours to what we want.

The light walls are dulux natural hessian and the dark wall is dulux cookie dough.

Just wait until your daughter gets a hold of all that av kit on the rack Fantastic looking install mate, but just to warn you that in the future you may have to invest in an av cabinet with a front in order to keep little hands out!

It took a while to get used to and set up so it worked properly but now I love it. The only problem is when friends are round and me and the wife are the only people who know how to use it.

I plan in the future to seperate the dining room from the living room with a partition wall with french doors and knock down the wall between the kitchen and dining room. When this is done I will relocate the a/v equipment into the cupboard under the stairs.

The one up on me, only I could use it, one off the main reasons i got rid was the wife's inability to get to grips with it

Great improvement Sandman.

Can I ask how you've hidden the cables for the rear Kef speakers? Are they along the skirting board, under the floor, or somewhere cleverer that I've not thought of?

They are in the expansion gap between the flooring and the walls under the skirting boards.

Great set up, Loving the clean looks,I too have the silver eggs.

They give an improved sound when wall mounted but I understand that might lead to a few issues with the missus!

What sub are you running with them?

Was going to suggest wall mounting them but those book shelfs might interfere abit as the stick out further than the speakers would...

Would be better to have a wider sound stage on the front though.

Re: My home cinema and room refurb

Yeah, I have been wanting to wall mount them for ages but so far have been unable to convince Mrs Sandman. We have just ordered a new suite though and I am trying to convince her that the rears will need to be wall mounted cause there wont be enough room either side of a 2 seater.

I will also need to update the pics, I have replaced the TV, Reciever, Xbox and SKY Box and added a Blu-Ray player.

The subwoofer is a BK Gemini. It is only an 8" driver but sounds great and is a very well built sub. Sounds better than the kef sub imho.
