Soundbloc plasterboard

I know some of you garage-conversion types have used Gyproc Soundbloc plasterboard, but does anyone know the difference between Soundbloc and Soundbloc RAPID?

I saw a few posts on here quoting Soundbloc prices at around 5 or 6 quid a sheet (which would match the price that Jewson gave me for the RAPID stuff) but the only prices I can find for *just* Soundbloc are around 20 quid a sheet.

Any info appreciated!

Cheers

Never heard of sondbloc rapid, but it could be small sheets like plasterboard laths (sp?) which are designed to be used in a loft and the like and are small enough to get in through a loft hatch, about 1200 x 600 I think.

I could be completely wrong though.

You might be on to something there, as it looks to only be available in 900mm widths. I think it's part of the whole Gyproc rapid system that uses metal studs.

Anyone know of a good supplier for Soundbloc, and approx prices?

Try Sheffield Insulations, www.sheffins.co.uk don't go by their online pricelist, they usually give a discount of approx 40%

I got 27 sheets of 15mm 1200x2400 sheets for £140, but that was through a builder I know who has an account with them.

Oh, and make sure you get it delivered unless you have access to a Transit van or bigger as it is extremely heavy.

Cheers mixmanx, I've dropped their Birmingham office a line. Sure hope I can get a discount, 'cause according to their pricelist I'm going to forking out over 700 quid

I made some more enquiries, according to Gyproc there is only one type of board 'Soundbloc'. There is no product known as soundbloc rapid.

This is all on their website.

Hi X3ELS

I've seen Rapid mentioned on one of their datasheets from last July (http://www.british-gypsum.bpb.co.uk/pdf/SDS09v4.pdf), as well as at:

http://www.cpsupplies.co.uk/downloads/gypsum_coshh.htm
and http://www.sheffins.co.uk/pricelist_...rtitioning.htm

...and it seemed to be the only type of Soundbloc that my local Jewson knew about.

It's also on the website for the "Federation of Plastering and Drywall Contractors" - they actually have their own federation????

Was it www.gyproc.com that you checked out?

Cheers
