rack with front cover

I'd like to make my own AV rack in which to house my equipment. However, I'd like to have everything hidden; so my question is: how can I hide things away with a front cover but at the same time listen to my central speaker and allow the remote control to get through to the equipment?

Many thanks
Taimur

One very good way is that you have a 'panel' of speaker grillcloth in the door.

yea speaker grille cloth allows IR signals through.

if you do a search on racks or something like that here, you will find a picture of the sort of thing you are after, i think one of the members from Oz built it himself, and a very nice job it was too.

I did indeed see the picture and it certainly looked very impressive. In fact I liked it so much I wanted to buy the company!

Thanks for the suggestion of speaker grill cloth. Where can I buy sheets of this?
