Hi all, been reading through lots of threads and been amazed a the work that goes on.
Anyway i am in the process of building a 2 storey 4x10m extension to the house and basically gutting a lot of the work within the existing house.
I want to install audio and visual automation but do not have a clue where to begin, i have trawled through masses of websites.
I do not have a massive budget as the extension is taking all the cost.

I was hoping for help on the following:

LED lighting throughout the home
Automatic lights within the bathrooms
Scene setting for main lounge, kitchen and main bedroom and somehow switch all the lights off at a set location, and also multizone audio throughout these rooms where i can listen to different music in different rooms (was hoping to use ipods for this)
satellite link and telephone/broadband to all rooms
underfloor heating to kitchen (electric or water, not sure what option is better)

I was hoping that i could find some sort of schematic drawings but have struggled to find much.


really need a help on this as its doing my head in thinking about it all the time, i would even just wire the system for now to keep costs done but do not know whats required for the above

Hi,

Sounds like you have a big project on! Lighting is, as you recognise, very important to get right straight from the start. Yours sounds like it needs a lot of planning, and could be quite complex. If I were you I'd go and read some of the threads on the "Home Automation and Lighting" subfourm. There's lots of great advice there, and the guys are really clued up. Careful though, there's some really expensive options!

This subforum is the best place to come back to when you know what you want and want to know how to fasten it in place, I reckon!
