It is DIY based

Our Bathroom is above our Kitchen. The kitchen Ceiling has just been replaced with plasterboard and awaits being plastered.

Before doing this are we able to make the bathroom more "private" by filling the space between floors with insulation ?

The only real problem I forsee is that there are rather alot of electric cables and pipes between levels - would this require a more specialised form of insualtion ?

the insultaion is just squashed in on top of wires or pipes(may need to be cut but usually not),but it has to be fire ratardent if its near wires.well that what we did when i was working for a builder.

Cheers - the roll of insulation we had for attic strictly stated not to be used on top of wires - so guess have to look for stuff that can be

anyone able to suggest a form of insulation that can go between floors and near pipes and electric cables ?

If you struggle to find any squashy type of insulation (but I can`t think why it can`t be used) give a thought to rigid board such as kingspan or cellotex. Its not as easy to fit where pipes and cables are in the way but insulation wise its very much better than the fibre fill type. Our house in filled to the brim with it and we have the u/floor on at a minimum

Will it be clearly marked on the insulation that its suitable for near electrics etc

probably not,you may need to ask,just talking to a sparks mate and he said to try to keep it away if there is any joins,he said just a nice gap.if there is no joins then just squash it in,albrisco is right kingspan is the best but is also the most expensive and if you dont cut it right its fit for the bin
