Smile My humble effort at a Cinema Room. (pics inside)

Hi All,

First off, Id just like to say a big thanks to the members of this forum (this section in particular) for giving me the ideas/inspiration to go ahead with this.

I'm certainly no DIY expert, and infact this is the first time i've ever tried anything like this. Reading all the other great threads and seeing what others have achieved made me think lets give it a go.

Right then. We moved into to our new home on 17th December (tell me about it ) and once Christmas was out the way,(ie boxing day) i begin my attempt at converting the loft into a cinema room.

This post may be slightly different to other posts, It's certainly not as detailed as others. As as I write this I'm pretty much done, I never had time to post as I was going along, so here you'll see a start to pretty much done in one post !!

Anyway, thanks again, here's the timeline pics.
---------------------------------------------

Not quite as bad as I remembered.

70's style carpet up, and first parts of frame up.

Frame complete with MDF boards on and painted.

A good cleaning and painting day!

Let's see what 'groove' was on about

All lit up at night - quite chuffed with meself at this point

Yeah - Kits arrived, lets have a look then.

And that's pretty much that, I've still got things to do, the last picture is projecting onto a bed sheet, won't have screen for another 10 days or so (gone for a fixed frame), my Jamo speakers are not here yet, although all cables are laid under the carpet and ready. There will be a long low storage unit for dvd's etc going under the screen.

The Onkyo amp obviously isn't setup yet either, and the projector need putting on a shelf on the back wall. I've also bought a sofa which you take up to the loft in bits and then assemble (not looking forward to that bit)

I've also talked myself into a gaming laptop, so that big desk up there is going.

Wow, long post, I better leave it there. I'll post a couple more pics once 100% done (if there is such a thing)

Cheers

Drew

Unibond is a brand of PVA

It's a glue you can dilute and paint on the walls to seal them and provide a key for the plaster to stick to

Many thanks Steve - think i'll get a few quotes - any ideas of rough cost involved. Room is 16x11 foot.

Sorry - meant to say, I'm just after a quote for the ceiling - walls will be covered by pictures/posters anyway.

Cheers

Drew
No idea of cost, prices for plastering can vary quite a lot

Follow your own advice and get a number of quotes
