Hi, I am mounting my TV on the wall, and I have run a spur up from the mains ring to power the TV. The problem is that there is not enough room between the TV and the wall to plug the TV into the socket.

Is there some way to wire the TV lead directly into the socket, or would I be better off removing the spur and burying the TV lead in the wall instead or buying a wall mount that leaves more room behind the TV?

Instead of fitting a 13A socket behind the TV you could use a switched/fused spur instead and wire the power lead for your TV straight into the spur plate.

You can also get them without the switch and hole, you are not going to be using it to switch it on and of so you don't need the switched version and if ypu put the cable in that hole it's gonna stick out a bit so get the one without the hole as it will be bottom entry so the cable will come out snug against the wall.

Ideally what you should do, is where you have run the spur from put the fused switch there and then behind your telly your free to just wire the connection directly together ( ie in a junction box etc). If you have a look at my build thread this is what I've done, the junction box sits behind the pelmet.

This way if the fuse does go your not having to remove your telly.
