Can anyone recommend somewhere I can get an internal fire door for my Home Cinema?

It's the weakest point of the room and I really need to replace the existing with hopefully a similar style door (see photo)? The double door solution would be great but it's out of the question with the amount of room I have.
Plus I have the WAF!

If anyone can point me in the the right direction that would be great!

Your local Jewsons, Travis Perkins or similar should be able to offer plenty of choice.

Do you have a particular fire-rating you need to achieve or is it simply to have a sturdy door for the cinema?

Just for the HC to block all or as much sound as I can from the rest of the house. The rear walls to room are 8 inches thick and I have this corrugated hardwood door in the doorway where all the sound just travels thru as if it wasn't there.

I'll check my local Jewsons to see what they have. B&Q sell what I already have unfortunately!

I did find this on the net but I am not sure this will be thick and heavy enough??

I remember reading about your problems with this door on your original (top quality) thread.

You have to remember that sound travels through air and air alone. the semi rated door should well be fine but I think its the frame and surrounding area you need to concentrate on also.

This may sound silly but have you tried taping up the gaps in the door with a non pourous tape and then seeing the difference? draft excluders make a big difference (as long as they fit snug) and I maybe wrong but this could be the answer to sound travel through that area, rather than a full fire door.

The heavier duty door will help but sealing gaps will help far more IMO.

Keep us posted Les, very interested in how it turns out. I have the same situtation, spent a small fortune sound proofing the babys room ( ceiling of lounge) only to find the sound travels straight through the bleeping door

You are are probably right and the aim is to get the door and apply seals around the door and the frame. The one I have at present is just like having 2 pieces of cardboard stuck next to each other! So I think that is the way to go.

I was looking at some studio acoustic doors which come with the frame and all that. They are really good having seen a few in edit studios but I think the wife would have something to say to the big metal door in the house. They're really pricey too!

So the type above seems the comprimise, however is a 1/2 hour fire door rating any good...I am not too up on the ol' fore door measurements?

If you want a solid door rather than semi-solid then either look at a full timber door (pine, oak etc) or look for a FD60 fire door. It might be worth taking a look at some door manufacturers websites to get more detailed information about the fire door construction, JB Kind & Jeld Wen could be good starting points.

I'm a long way off building my cinema room, but I'm fitting all new doors to the house I've just moved into. I'm using the hollow moulded doors for all the rooms except for the cinema-room-to-be where I've bought a similar design solid pine door which will be painted to match. I'll be fitting a door jamb on the bottom (which means a small step into the room) and fitting a sealing strip all round so the door will seal the room. The door lock will not have a keyhole so no sound can travel through any gaps in or around the door.
