New Floating Wall Build ......

So, I have to repaint the sitting room, cos the couch is being delivered Wednesday next ( oh and today is 6th of Nov ) does n't leave much time ....
So I have been inspired by "the Groove" and his build, and plan on doing something similar........ skirting boards are coming off tonite !! the problem is will I get it all done in about a week ????
Any thoughts ???

I have sharp Aquos 32" LCD, I will make a wall that will accommodate upgrade to 37"
the bracket is already bought, and will take up to 37" ....
Amp DVD and speakers in 6 Channel setup, all small sat's & are all Harmon Kardon, ( the HKTS 8 is the speaker system )
I must dig out model number of the amp and the DVD player.
and it's being lying idle for a year !! along with the LCD !!!
oh and D-box2 Sat decoder in there too .................

Rope light is ordered, and will be shipping on Friday....................
So DIY shop tomorrow, for wood, electrics for some bits etc and start painting on Friday .....
not too sure weather to hang the 3 rear speakers or have them on floor stands behind the couch....

will post a starting photo later !!

hope to hang on Saturday, and add finishing touches on monday/tuesday ....
Cheers
Tony.

Re: New Floating Wall Build ......

Slight delay, we have decided to now lay a new wooden floor, so now I can lay the wiring for the rear speakers under the floor, I am going to put the 3 rear sat speakers on stands, ones with a glass base, so tonight I am going to mount the front speakers on the wall and fill the channels...... and tomorrow start painting the other 3 walls ............yuke, I hate painting......

Re: New Floating Wall Build ......

Just a thought, if your skirting is off anyway would it not be worth running the cable for the rear speakers behind them instead of under the wooden floor?

A piece of skirting is a lot easier to get off than taking the floor up when the 'law of sod' breaks your speaker cable in the middle of the floor.

Re: New Floating Wall Build ......

Hey Tel, she wants a new Floor !! so she gets a new floor !! So tonight I just
mounted the the front speakers on the wall, and filled in the channels, I also fitted the wiring for the dimmer for the rope light. by the way i saw rope lights in B&Q for around 15 Euro, part of their xmas lighting stock, they had them in white too amongst other colors !
tomorrow I will build the frame, and see how far I get !! I'll post some pic's too.
