Plasma Installation - what height?

Hi All

Spent some time reading through the posts - very informative.

I'm planning to wall mount a 50" Pioneer Plasma onto a dot and dab dry-lined thermalite wall.

My question isn't (yet!) how do I do it? I've already mounted a 32" LCD in the "playroom" using the Fischer resin stuff and threaded bolts (and it's still up!).

No, my question is how high should the screen be off the floor to make comfortable viewing and to ensure the quality of the the display is optimal? Obviously, ALL the viewing will be from the comfort of the sofa, so should the screen be mounted at the same height as a conventional TV i.e. pretty much eye level?

Thanks in advance!

John

Re: Plasma Installation - what height?

Most folk prefer the center of the panel at eye level, some prefer a slightly higher fixing using a tilting bracket.

Whatever suits you sir is the answer........

My 40 inch is around a metre to the bottom of the screen, have always found 1.2 to be too high!

Re: Plasma Installation - what height?

Doesn't it depend on the size of your screen?

103" - 30cm
80" - 35cm
71" -40cm
65" - 50cm
63" -55cm
60" -60cm
50" -100cm
42" -110cm
37" -120cm

ish...

Assuming standard sofas, standard home cinema size (5m to 6m?), flat horizontal floor I guess

250"+ - Zero to negative 50cm
200" - Zero to negative 20 cm
150" - 0cm

i.e. you might need to build a sloping floor from your sofa otherwise the 250" screen's centre might be too high
