chimney breast mounting of tv and feeding wires

Hi

I'm about to install a panasonic plasma tv on a chimney breast, which isnt used as a fireplace

Which is the best way to feed cables down from the tv to the AV stuff below

I want to hide the cables as much as possible

Do i remove a brick from the chimney breast and cover the hole with a faceplate with "brushes"

Or just drill holes and cover with a faceplate

What im really asking i guess, is it safe to remove a brick? or is there a better way

I'm planning on blocking up the fireplace as its too small to put the AV stuff inside it. its only a small chimney breast at a 45' angle in the corner of the room.

many thanks

Re: chimney breast mounting of tv and feeding wires

I guess there will be lots of usefull ideas from users on this forum but as i am considering the same type of install i thought i might add an idea i have.

I had thought to core a 4" hole behind the tv screen into the old chimney void, then core a 4" hole from the side at skirting level into where the fire used to be.
Then join the two holes with some 4" aluminium flexi duct.
I thought to use 4" as this would allow for any size of cable or sockets i might want to use in the future.

My old fireplace will then be hidden by a new plasma style fire.

hope this helps

any other advice/input will be great
