My AV stand - using old curtain poles!

I couldnt find a stand that fitted in with our decor that was sensible money.....so!

Using some brushed stainless curtain poles we had spare, and some 2x9 joists, we end up with this.

I wish i had made it 2 or 3" wider, but otherwise pleased. It has got spikes on the bottom but they've sunk into my wood wormed floor!

Still not happy with the centre speaker, and with an impending PS3 and HDMI switch box, the rack will soon be too small!

what ya think?

really smart m8, suits the room well

you could always make another bit to sit on top of the unit for more space, but then again that may make the tv to high?

excellent, but do you think your HD box need a bit of extra space to breath?

Good points both; regarding the extra shelf, yeah i think would make the tv too high, and the space for the Sky box, your probably right. Too be honest when i first rigged it all into the unit I had the Sky box on its own, with the dvd player to its right. (the centre was perched on top of the tv!) Dont know whether to get rid of dvd player and use PS3 when it comes for all dvd/cd duties, (it will go where the ps2 is now?) But then I also want a dvd recorder.....!

Looks like you'll have to make a new rack then!

Good piece of DIY skills that, you don't have that much space to play with in the corner, its either a few inches wides (which frankly will give you nothing more), or upwards I'm afraid. Saying that, your screen is not that high to begin with, another shelf wouldn't hurt your neck too much.
