tips for decorating ?

don'y want to spend silly money just small things like best colours to use/wood/carpet/lighting etc to enhance sound/viewing, are speakers in the ceiling a good thing or more cosmetic ?

room is 15x13ft and has a wooden ceiling, one large south-east(ish) facing window, am i right in thinking it's best to have the tv on the same wall as the window ?

Re: tips for decorating ?

I have moved this to the DIY section as you should get some good tips from there.
Also have a look through this section of the forums for some ideas etc.

Re: tips for decorating ?

For best sound results, a carpet is better, even though wooden floors look better.

If it is to be a dedicated room, you might consider dark decor to reduce reflections and glare from the image. Although this is not to WAFy...

In ceiling speakers are perfectly fine, provided time is taken to match them to the rest of your system, and also to get the placement correct. Their are no second chances! Also makes it a bit harder to upgrade without having to fix big holes...

The roof sounds fine, is it a panel roof, if you that should provide interesting acoustics. What is the height? Might be a good idea to have the TV on the same wall as the window to reduce reflection providing there is enough space. But you might then be limited when the screen can go. Also it is not that difficult to mask / curtain out the incoming light from a side / rear wall etc. But it might be more difficult if it is from the same wall as the screen itself. I wouldn't worry too much about that if I was you.

Lighting is up to you, as I said you want to be able to remove all reflections from the source and incoming light.
