help for room H/C design

Hi everyone,

Been looking around this site for some time now,
there's alot of good info here. But i'm in need of some serious help
i've just bought a new house thats going to be ready the begining of december,
and i've got the ok from the builders to put some cables into the lounge for my cinema/tv setup, here's the dilema!!!!!!!!!!!!

i'm looking for any help for the design of the room, attached drawing below.

room is 17.5ft by 10.2ft

Radiators are in front of the 2 windows.

my setup is samsung M86 40" connected to sky HD, sony dav sr-1 home cinema dvd (this is going to be changed for a seperate system later).

the problem i've got is how to layout the room, because i would put the tv on the wall furthest from the door,
but this gives me a dilema for seating posistions as we are looking at getting a 3 and a 2 seater but the 2 seater would be infront of the doorway,
other option is to put the tv infront of the window by the door, but that would then be infront of the radiator!!
i would like to do the false chimney setup, but if there's anyone out there that has had this same situation/dilema then advice would be great.

many thanks in advance

mat

You have a very similar size / layout to my room ( check my build thread below). But basically we put the viewing ( plasma / pj screen) on your left wall as you look at it and the main seating area underneath the window on the right.

Hi cybrey

Thats how i'm thinking of doing it, because i can stick the tv on the wall, but i'm worried that the sofa will be right in the door entrance, i see that your door is further away from the front of your room.

I should have more of an idea at the weekend cause i'm going shoping for the sofa and stuff.

Hi mate,

This ones a good one but if I was to plan this i would do it a bit different. The worst thing is seeing the back of a sofa as you walk into the room.

Here's my idea.

Only other thing to consider would be a L shaped sofa instead of a 3 + 2 sofa, then you might get away with screen on far left wall without to much sofa sticking out into the middle of the room.

Re: help for room H/C design

Hi Krinkov,

i've thought about this wy but i thought that i might be sitting too close to the screen as the room is only 10ft wide and when you add the sofa into that i'd be sitting about 6/7ft away from a 40" screen. might feel a bit close/overpowering.
