Paras Pit...

Hey,

Thought I may as well get in on the action.

Brief back story. Me n the better half moved into our first home in may and it was horrible. Full of dirt, badly decorated and smelt of dead cat with the hair to match.

Anyway I decided to not live in such a place and got round to sorting it out. I only gave myself a week off work and vowed never to do DIY in this house again..

So a few pics to show you what I did..

It started like this

and now its like this

and night

the kit of course.. Masking tape for the Wii sensor bar as per standard issue!

And there you go for the living room..

Next month, the bedroom!

Re: Paras Pit...

Thats just the camera not being very good. They are quite dull in comparison really. I do get a slight blue tint if they are on, but there would be no way round that

1200s, but there the same thing, but in silver!

Quite an eclectic collection. Funk, house, hiphop, breaks, d n b, old skool stuff. 60s 70s rock, loads of other wierd stuff too. But I mainly mix house and breaks at the moment.

Re: Paras Pit...

Thanks.

That is indeed a cheeky little vestax pcv275 hanging in the middle. I have a Khoas pad for it as well hidden to the side for when I feel like a quick rub is in order!

The sofa was a fluke to be honest, it was ordered months before we got the place. I thought it could fit but had plans if it didnt. Thank god it did though, the other plans were s**t!

what did you not like? one thing that gets me is you cant go from cd to vinyl mode while a track is playing, its a big shame.

Re: Paras Pit...

I think the main issue I had was with the top plate. it felt to lose to me. Maybe I am just old and stuck in my mixing ways but I found them quite a challenge to mix with. More time spent keeping the beat matched than enjoying it!

house, garage.proper garage with good bass lines and vocals, not that spit in the mic mc rubbish.ive got a thing for mixing the two together at the moment and coming up with new mash ups.i do like to mix all things tho,as i used to mobile dj ive got a very mixed music collection.
ps.A big thanks for the kind words on my system and please dont think your set up is not any good,it beats many on here. After all,we all start somewhere.

Re: Paras Pit...

Nice, I used to mix proper garage aswell, my taste just changes so often.

We should force the forums to start up a dj section.. Equipment, music, techniques and mix traiding! I am sure there are loads of DJ's on here!

How long have you been workign on your place??

Re: Paras Pit...

well the cinema room took about 6 weeks on and off.i had allsorts of problems (i write about some of them in my thread in the gallery).in fact the projector has been sent of again today so im not very happy and i dont even want to think about all the hassle i had with the screen going back so many times.i dont drive so it was a pain trying to sort out transport all the time.
It has taken a while to get my arcam gear as you know it aint cheap stuff and im not made of money so that was a big hold up.I first had the idea of a cinema room about three years ago,so from that its been a long journey from then.
The dj/bedroom is still a ongoing project,i have now put my speakers on the wall and done a bit more to the painting and im making some corner seating(maybe in cream leather, not sure yet).
I want to go for a new look from the cinema room and have a place for my friends to chill without me being worrid about things being broken

Re: Paras Pit...

3 years to fruition?? Well it's certrainly looks worth it! You must be proud, my week long effort, (although lots of planning once we made an offer on a house) seems funny! It's a shame that some of your things dont work as they should. It can make things seem very unfair, when I first moved in my lovely old Denon AVC A1D blew up within about a week, Really ****** me off! Speaking of that, whats up with your PJ?? I have the same one and (touch wood) fortunately have never had an issue!

"I want to go for a new look from the cinema room and have a place for my friends to chill without me being worrid about things being broken"

Thats the secret really, a place where peeps can relax. Thats why I kept all the kit out of the main seeting bit of the room! It means no worries for me, or for them! I learn't that very quickly from renting with peeps!

Re: Paras Pit...

my friends have a habit of going "oooh look at them",followed by a big fat finger going towards the speaker drivers.i can tell you,you aint heard anyone shout "noooooo" so loud.grills stay on most times now.thank god no harm has come to them.
The in76 had a white/gray halo in the middle of the screen,at the bottom it used
to show up big time on blacks, the old fault i had was funny lines of colour on the
right hand side of the screen and it looked like a row of pixes hand moved up a few row's higher then the rest.very odd

Very nice room and kit there Para. Ex- break collector myself (vinyl of course!). Crazy, I used to go trudging the carboot sales and old record shops back in the day - now you can just download it !! Technology eh? Nice to see someone spinning breaks though - go on, tell us your all time favourite break ??
