My 1st attempt-very W.I.P!

Ok, so having finally moved house I set about getting a projector and getting it plumbed in. After much to-ing and fro-ing with cable laying etc, it's finally befinning to take shape.

Here's a couple of pictures of the room (taken before we actually moved in)...

Looking towards the screen:

Looking away from the screen

Last weekend the frame went up and the 2 basecoat layers of Vogel's Invisible Wall paint was applied:

Here's a picture taken later in the evening:

Sorry for the quality, but they were taken on my phone!

So this weekend, the plan is to apply the 2 coats of the topcoat and it then has to be left for a week to dry without touching it.

Once a week's passed, the edges of the wall can be masked so the frame can be painted.

As I say it's very W.I.P and also my first attempt at any kind of home cinema, but I have to say I'm really pleased with it so far and I'm loving a 95" picture.

Once my HTPC is plumbed in (hopefully this weekend) I'll grab some HD DVD screenshots if anyone's interested in seeing any more?

Very interested, keep it coming

Looks good too for what I assume is not much of an outlay for the paint!

Looking nice! Do you plan to cover or hang anything on the screen wall when it's done or will it be a case of touch-that-wall-with-dirty-fingers-and-you-die kind of thing? I think a solid screen is definately the way to go as when I shoot through my Media Center menus I can see the effect that a tiny bit of edge curl has on mine and it's incredibly frustrating

Also, how have you found positioning the HD70, have you managed to do it without any keystone correction?

Finally, do you plan on painting the side walls a slightly darker colour to get less reflections or does it work ok as it currently is?

I agree, although my screen setup was mainly driven by cost/not wanting to do something I had no experience with and then it up completely!

It's actually been quite easy. Although in honesty it was more luck than judgement!

I don't know at the moment. I'm going to get the two topcoats on the wall and then get the frame painted (including the inner edges) and see how it is after that.

It's kind of magnolia at the moment, so I could change it I guess to a chocolate brown colour if needs be, but I'll see how it is once the topcoats and frame are done.

Thanks-I'm hoping it won't turn into an uber thread like that!

I'll try and get a picture later this evening of something on Sky HD and as I said I'm aiming to get the HTPC all plumbed in this weekend so I'll try and get a picture of that in action too (I'll try and use my camera this time rather than my phone! )

Thanks, but it's not my sofa! That was taken before we moved in (ours is very similar though but no bends in it, it's just flat against that back wall).
