Modest floating wall..

Been browsing these forums for a few weeks getting ideas and information, and eventually it's finished (bar a TOS link cable for my xbox).

A weekend with a jigsaws and a bit of pain, heres the fruit of my labour. Not quite a full progress report, but you get the idea.

Hope to get some lighting going on behind it. Time to move onto bigger and better things!

Nicely done.

Although the thread title was misleading - I was hoping to see an actual levitating wall!

After he's done mine!

I wish I had DIY skills, but in this life you've got to accept when you're beaten and acknowledge your weaknesses and I have acknowledged that DIY is most definately one of mine!

Re: Modest floating wall..

Yeah it's very nice, not bad price, £120 if I remember correctly.. Very good build quality in my opinion, adjustable shelves (up and down). Quite deep drawers. If you want some more pictures just let me know.

Agreed, the lighting would really lift the whole setup.

Good work.

More pics would be great I'm torn between this unit and the ikea besta unit. The benefit of this unit would be that my HTPC could fit within the unit whereas it would have to sit onto with the Bestas

Re: Modest floating wall..

You'll have to excuse the pictures, my real camera died so I'm having to use my phone and I'm in a hurry!

Bottom drawer can hold I 6 DVDs high, 3 x 2. So about 36, which a little space for a few bits of crap. Top drawer is slightly shallower, so probably about 4 x 3 x 2. It's also quite a deep unit.

Next time I'll resize the pictures, sorry!

Re: Modest floating wall..

Looks really nice, clean and simple. Essentially a board mounted to a wall but looks great.

Has inspired me to try something of my own.

Can you tell me how far the TV and speakers protrude from the floating wall. Or post pics, or does the wall slightly overlap the TV?

Re: Modest floating wall..

I'll post some profile pictures this evening. You hit the nail on the head, just a board mounted to the wall. The TV protrudes about half an inch (at a guess) and the speakers about 5mm each.

Very nice, i really like that. Some rope lights would look great behind the wall!

Where else can i find that stand as the Tesco's link is dead.
