Stevieb's New Home cinema

I ahve been browsing the forums for some time and am now settled in my new home, so after 9 months of cream walls and a plasma that has just been put on the wall with every cable showing it is now time for me to start fitting everything properly. the living room size is 5.8m x 4.2m leading through a arch into the dining room of 3.2m x 4m.

The equipment i have so far is

42" LG Plasma.
Yamaha AX750SE Amp
LG DVD
PS2
Mission speaker system.

Phase 1

My aim is to setup the whole room with the plasma above the fireplace with all cabling hidden in the walls. I am also putting in CAT5 cable for the distributed audio for around the house

Phase 2
Creation of node zero with a central hub for the distributed audio and home network, with 2 NAS appliances hidden away.

Phase 3 rollout of multiroom audio across the house.

I am hoping for phase 1 to be completed by the end of october, and phase 2 by christmas 2007.

I am still on the lookout for a projector and screen, plus a nice set of new speakers to put on the walls i have been looking at some of the KEF range but i do not really want to spend more than £500 all in.

I will be updating this over the coming weeks with before/progress and after pics

Thanks

Steve

Re: Stevieb's New Home cinema

Always have a plan.

I have just finished my back garden with a decked area for the bbq, and also a nice patio for dining + kids play area.

But the thing i like about the garden is the remote controled lights really gives a nice atmosphere to the garden when entertaining into the evening!

X10 stuf will make an appearence in the living room and dining room to control the lights and blinds!

Hi Steve

whatever you do mate remember to post lots of pics, just get stuck in and give it your best efforts. You should see your work materialise just as all the others in this forum have and its a great feeling believe me.

Best of luck

Thanks,

I have spent most of the day double checking my plans and measuring and marking up the walls where everything is going! I am trying my hardest not to rush into this and i am probably spending to much time making sure everything is prepared for before i start as not to hold me up later on.

I will be sticking up some photos later tomorrow of the existing room. As i did not take any pictures of my garden before completely renovating that!

Steve

Are you really tall?

That looks a bit high to me... is it to be the final resting place?

Nope its all coming off and a new fire place should be going in with the plasma being a about 2 foot lower and should be at eye level when finally setup!

Re: Stevieb's New Home cinema

Right i have not updated this for a while, as i have been looking for some new speakers and lighting controlers.

It is not progressing as quickly as i would like, but having to young kiddies around makes for interesting DIY times.

I have taken a delivery today of all of the cabling for the structured wiring for the living room and what will eventually be the whole house.

I have decided to go for the QED Pro installtion cable for the structured cabling as i got this at cost price.
