| Re: Can we have a simple step by step guide for floating walls?
My thread is fairly complete from start to finish (or at least it will be), as is groove's.
I'd be quite happy to compile a list of basic tools and skills required but it's not easy to come up with a one-size-fits-all guide to building a floating wall due to the many possible permutations.
Basically, it's easier if you have a solid wall to fix to (breeze block which has been plastered) rather than a dry-lined wall (block which has had plaster board stuck on it and then skimmed with a coat of plaster) or a stud wall (wall made of plasterboard on a wooden framework).
The most important rules to follow are plan extremely carefully and measure twice, cut/drill once! The DIY skills needed are not complicated, but a bit of logical thinking are spatial awareness are required.
I'd be happy to give advice to anyone who needs help.
