Surely it's a no brainer? If you have seen the guys work and like it, and he's gonna charge you £400 all in, why would you consider the £1100 quote?

No way is that the right amount.

A good tip is to find a local, building site and collar one of the plasterers for a nice day job on a weekend, they usually "aquire the materials" and then charge you a day rate.

I would pay £200 wages and set aside around £100 for materials at most for a room that size.

so that's 20m of wall 10 x 2 m sheets at £6 a sheet = £60 plus a few plaster screws a bit of jointing tape and some joint filler.

Re: plasterer £12 square metre?

I have a plasterer round today who is doing a room for me for £250. It's 5mx3m and 2.5m high. My brother who is a builder says it's a reasonable price.

probably go into the final completion, bring finish date sooner.need to start thinking about the 1080p projector, but i think i may find a gem in a few months when a few more of em come out at lower prices.
Budget for 1 will be around £3k now i have a bit of extra clout.

Re: plasterer £12 square metre?

hope you found a cheaper plasterer mate, 12 quid a metre's definately on the high side. Sick squids more reasonable, but I hear 7 or 8 squids closer to the going rate.

Good luck!

Re: plasterer £12 square metre?

Doesnt anyone quote hourly rates these days
So plasters are on about 50k per year (and probably only pay tax on 20k)
