Access to Mounted LCD?

For years I have deliberated over mounting LCD however I have never fully understood how I would get access to the rear of the TV once it is actually mounted and this has put me off.
I would be aiming for something similar to this:

Plasma in Chimney for Flush install Help

Without the centre speaker recess.

My DIY skills should be of a standard to achieve this look but I am unsure about how I would gain access to the rear of my TV and hopefully someone could offer some advice/solutions.

1. Is it a case of whilst hanging the TV you connect all your required cables etc and you simply don't get access easily after this?

2. Or, do the wall brackets have easy facilities to remove the TV from the wall then reattach it again?

3. Is it dependant on the actual bracket you use i.e. should I be looking at one of these Vogel extending brackets, pricey but look effective for what I am asking about. My only concern would be, the TV wouldn’t be as flush to the wall.

As I mentioned previously the day side of things would be straight forward enough for me, it's just I couldn't really be bothered with hassle if I wanted access to add new equipment e.g. I current only have Virgin + connected to my one and only HDMI socket, however if I decide to buy a ps3 for my son’s Xmas, how would I connect this easily?

Re: Access to Mounted LCD?

Careful planning is the way to go. You will need to channel all your cable needs into the brickwork or behind the plaster to come out of a neat hole behind the tv. The mount I bought was less than £25 I think and allows up to 60" or so. A square framework is bolted to the wall and other upright rail like sections are screwed to the tv itself. Then its just a case of hanging the tv (rails) onto the wall mounted framework - simple Its easy to get off again and add any extra cables - as long as you planned for them to be coming out of that neat hole in the first place. It is possible to hide cables over the surface if its just a short vertical drop to your dvd etc but not as pretty IMO. Ducting behind your wall to allow you to pull through extra cables is simple in theory but in practice its probably easier to put everything you need (and may need if the future)and leave them in place. It all depends on your layout and walls etc.
Choosing the right bolts for your wall and chanelling out for the cables is a little tricky but within the capabilities of an average DIYer.
Hope this helps. Just nearing the end of my install. Messy but will definately be worth it.
