Hi all new to this, I have bought a house and want to keep the fireplace so it is bare brickwork. Firstly can you mount an lcd/plasma onto a working fireplace, secondly any ideas for hiding cables? Any ideas are most welcome. Thanks in advance.

my plasma is mounted above my fire.

when i asked this very question i was greeted with a multitude of responses.

Mine has been there for over 3 years now and i suppose the answer depends on what kind of heat output the fire has and how often is it on for. luckily mine isnt on that much and its not a high output fire - more decorative.

originally i had a glass shelve made which was fixed above the fire and which deflected the heat away from the plasma but i soon got bored with that

3 years - no problems

as for the cabling - much more difficult, with bare brick then i cant think of a way other than to purchase your cables selectively and attempt to channel them in with the brick motar.

im sure someone will have a better idea though

My plasma is above my hole in the wall Gazco Riva 67. Its been there for 6 months now and its lasted the winter! The fire has a 5.7kw output on it and is not just for decoration! Don't believe all the ******** you get told on here. Yes the bottom of the tv gets hot but it hasn't done it any harm.

As for the cables, get that angle grinder out and go to work on that badboy!
