Rear step

Hi all,
I remember seeing a thread on building a rear step for a home cinema a while back(1-2years) which had photos taken during construction.
Im about to build a rear step and was hoping someone would have a link to this or any others similar that might help me.
Thanks.

Re: Rear step

I'm about to move into a new house (sort of - see thumbnail 2 - and yes, it is the whole thing!) in February and already have two rooms earmarked for home cinema and a whisky snug!

I too am thinking of putting a rear step into the room for a sofa/or chairs along with rack kits and DVD shelves. What I was wondering, what is the optimal height for one of these platforms? I was thinking about 6 inches, will that be enough or will that be too high? I was going to put LED's in the riser so that it is lit up when the rest of the room is dark.

Image 1 shows the area where I am thinking of putting the step, obviously this will obscure some of the window but as it will be blacked out most of the time this is not really an issue. (The furniture is the current owners and will be replaced)
