Thoughts/advice on my setup...

I have just moved bought a place and have been renovating it for 3 months (massive job). anyways i am now at the point where i am starting to set up my lounge for my av splendor. it is a big square room with high ceilings. 5m length x 5m length x 3m ceilings. So far i have bought a sony 40w2000, jvc rx-d701s hdmi reciever, mission m-cubes, and denon dvd 1930. I also have an xbox 360 and nintendo wii and most likely will have the ps3 when it comes out. i have telewest tv drive installed. The tv is to be wall mounted as well as the speakers. i am currently looking for a unit to put all the equipment in. the speaker cables are all going under floor. The one area i am struggling is how to hide the speaker cables going up the wall to the front and back left and right speakers.

it is a big pet hate of mine cables. i have channeled the wall for the tv cables and they are all in place. It is just these speaker cables. can i buy trunking that fits in corners ie trinagle shaped so it is not such a harsh edge as the speakers are going in the 4 corners of the room. i would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions on this set up to make it better. cheers

Channeling is the best way, I used a SDS drill with rotory stop and one of these, it was done in minutes. http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/...43116&id=16724

Re: Thoughts/advice on my setup...

Unfortunately not an option as i ahve just had the walls fixed, plastered and repapered. originally i was getting floor standing speakers which was not a problem but then went for the m-cubes in the end which is now causing me a problem.

Re: Thoughts/advice on my setup...

Would it be possible to run the cable under the carpet/flooring? Then maybe get some stands for the M-cubes that you can run the cable up inside them?

In my opinion, if you've spent the money doing everything up, trunking will detract from the look quite a bit.
That said, i think a few people have posted some links to some better looking trunking than the old white boxes.

If you havent already carpeted (this is dusty) you could angle grind the minimal width required and bolster it out. You'll get nice easy thin channel to skim with plaster over the conduit (unibond it first).

Re: Thoughts/advice on my setup...

you can always just superglue the cable up the internal corners of the walls and paint them in to match the wallpaper if they stand out too muct other than that is glue a small diameter quadrant up the corners to keep the bulk down.

Re: Thoughts/advice on my setup...

its look more and more likely that i will have to splurge for the stands. £185 a pair, so £370 plus shipping, eeeeekkk!!! damn near as much as i paid for the speakers!!! how on earth are they so expensive, it just some aluminium!!! dissapointed that there is not small 10 mill trunking, as that would be hardly noticeable in corners. seems the smallest is 30 mill which is definitely noticeable and with my walls already redecorated and repapered and painted channeling is not an option. thanks for the help and would be most appreciative if someone can come up with another way of hiding them to save me having to pay for these damn stands.

oooh just noticed this is my 100th post..woohoo

Re: Thoughts/advice on my setup...

after some extensive searching i have found this...

http://www.ekmpowershop.com/ekmps/sh...&productid=319

looks like this will be the smallest. should be pretty unnoticeable once painted. let me know if anyone finds anything better.
