mdf or plasterboard

Hi all, any1 ever used mdf to board thier battoned walls instead of plasterboard, naturally its more expensive, will it sound proof better due to its density rather than plasterboard, curious, may go with it if theres any recommendations.

Not sure what effect the sound would be using mdf. Perhaps a bit of a hollow effect.
