Ste, looks really good! Well done.

Just 1 point - running power cables at an angle like that is definitely a no-no other than that, spot on

Re: stes home cinema in last stages!!

So how should the cables have been routed ? As im sure the power cable etc would not have been long enough to go across and then up ????

Re: stes home cinema in last stages!!

The IEE wiring regulations state that mains cable should be buried atleast 50mm into the wall and protected against screw/drill/nail damage, and should go within a 150mm area in a straight line horizontally or vertically from the electrical accessory (socket). (this is why it's usually deemed safe to drill a hole in a wall aslong as you're not within the area 150mm horizontally or vertically from an accessory)

Re: stes home cinema in last stages!!

TBH though, since it was you who installed it and you know where it is, you'll know not to put any shelf brackets or whatever on the wall there, so it's not worth bothering with.

In my opinion electrical regulations are way over the top. If you followed them to the letter your average joe wouldn't be allowed to wire up a plug, nevermind fit a new socket

But what if he sells the house in the near or distant future? The new owner will not have a clue where the cables are.

I agree with you about some of the regulations but IMO there is a good reason in this case.
