Finally got our Hitachi on the wall, see what you think

We bought the PD7200 last year and am still very very pleased with it. We'd always planned to mount it on the chimney breast however, running the wires up the chimney.

We took out the fire place as it was never used and have modded the hole to fit the AV equipment in.

After finally getting it done, I hope other plasma wall mounters may be able to get some ideas from how we managed ours. See what you think (Big thanks to my girlfriends dad who designed and built everything!)

Shows the false bottom which contains the power supplies.

False bottom removed, before painting.

False bottom and back removed

Just after the plastering was finished

Forming the AV hole

and again

Beneath the false bottom.

Modding the fireplace

Kind regards,

Matt

I'm not sure, but you're better linking anyway, IMO, as it saves bandwidth

That looks great. Really good use of the fire place.

And thank god you changed your carpet!

Only joking.

I think others will look at this and think maybe I could do that.

Great post.

Nice job buddy. But ensure that you clean the rear of the TV once a month to avoid accumulation of dust.

Looks good. I see lots of installs on here and always think that the TV is mounted far too high.

Yours is different, the TV looks at an ideal watching height.

Thanks for that. You're absolutely right, one of our main priorities was to have the TV at that height. I agree that too many people mount them too high. It seems that subconciously, if it's on a wall or chimney it should hang the same height as a framed picture rather than how high a TV would be if it were on a unit or stand.

Thanks for your comments.

I finally managed to find a photo of what the room looked like before. I would like to point out that the decor was unfortunately inherited from the previous owners

That looks fantastic mate. Iw ould have been tempted to RING the power supply instead of just SPARING it and then using an extension lead.

But the final finish looks amazing. Hats off to you.

Nice work, it has come out really nice great workmanship

Agree with the above, could have put that socket on the ring circuit, p.s. its a spur not a spar

Wow, what a transformation! Great work.

Just a friendly word of caution, watch out for the 360 power supply, that baby gets red hot in enclosed spaces and can cause some fairly crazy errors with the 360. That said, you have some room for air to move around it (it's not like you've wrapped it in carpet) and should be ok!

Excellent job, I'm just about to mount my Panny PX60 once I've chased in teh cables. Still deciding whether or not to use the chimney stack to mount it on though. can I ask how you got the trunking through the brick to connect with the trunking coming down the Chimney? Was it tricky?
