Help choosing home cinema components thanks..

Hello guys!

Ok - so I've finally decided to take the big step and invest some money in a good home cinema setup. I've been a regular stereo freak for years and currently have a quite nice (IMHO) NAD/B&W-system. So I thought I'd take a look at some local hi-fi shops and check what home-cinema components there are...

Well - I was just overwelmed by the amount of components there are out there today. 5.1 systems, 7.1 systems, digital room correction (denon), 1080-systems etc etc. All at different very different price points and all marketed as equally amazing... help!

Now - what I simply want to know is if any of you guys could give any recommentions for a complete system? I'm going to need it all:

* Speakers
* Projector
* DVD-player
* Surround amplifier
* Projector screen
* Some cables

My budget is about £35k (50k Euro) - give or take some. The size of the room is about 4x7 meters - so it's not very big. And even though the flat is very well isoleted I do have neighbours... so thundering 20hz bass is out of the question...

I'm not really the type of person who likes to watch action movies on full volume either. I'm much more into watching some intelligent movie like the shawshank redemption with a glass of red wine and a girl around my arm...

So - quality over quantity is what I'm looking for. Small unobtrusive speakers that look good but still doesn't sound too bad is what I'm looking for. I'm not expecting it too beat my stereo system in terms of audioquality - I just want a "nice" quality home cimema system and I'll be happy.

ok - that took more description than I thought.... Anyway - my question is simple: what components would you buy? Any suggestions will be very welcome! Thanks!

(I don't know if this is the best forum but I couldn't find any better myself - feel free to move if you want to! Please email me if you do though. Thanks again.)

Re: Help choosing home cinema components thanks..

Hi, this section of the forums is really for self build projects and items related to those. You would be best asking the relevant questions in the individual forums, breaking the budget down into parts and giving other members an idea of your overall budget. That way you will get some excellent and quick advice on what items to look for, demo etc.

I will therefore close this thread.
