Surge protectors

Hi

Has anyone used surge protector sockets? is there any benefit to them. I think I remember Gordon telling me that they lower sound quality. Also what will a clean earth do?

Thanks

Re: Surge protectors

I use surge protected sockets and a surge protected UPS for my projector.
I am sceptical about the whole gold plated power cable thing and I figure lowering the chances of having my kit zapped by a power spike or my projector bulb cooling badly thanks to a power cut are worth a trade off in sound/picture quality I can't detect.
