I plan to mount my plasma tv.

I obviously need to store my amp, dvd player, etc somewhere.

I have seen a lot of people store this stuff in an AV cabinet below where the tv is mounted - but I have always wondered what the point of mounting the tv was in the first place....

You'd mount a tv to save floor space and have things look cleaner - which would be pointless if there was a cabinet there anyway, on top of which a tv could sit on a stand.

I was thinking of making shelves alongside my tv on the wall, where the dvd player etc can sit - but I sense this is going to be a nightmare when it comes to cabling etc...

Anyone got any good ideas? ta.

I think that flat panel displays are best mounted at eye level. I would hate to have to continually look up to watch, so a cabinet on which the screen sits is my solution.

Yes I agree, eye-level is the best. I am mounting the tv on the wall at eye-level. The problem is, where to put all the av-gear......

Personally i like a tv mounted at eye level and av gear in the corner of the room.

I've seen a few pics from members that have put there av stuff into the wall when there is a cupboard or under stairs space behind the wall, i think this looks great.

I'm mounting my plasma above my fire place with a tilting wall mount, all cables will hidden behind the plaster in trunking, up the wall into the roof space, from there the cables go into a store room which will be ventalated holding all my av gear.


Personally i don't see the point if your wall mounting a screen to have a storage unit below it for av gear. i like clean open areas with no clutter ! best to have everything hidden, nice and tidy !
