SoundProofing Garage

Hi All,
the walls in my garage currently of a brick/rockwall/1 layer of plasterboard construction. Would it be beneficial to add another layer of plasterboard or build another wooden frame/rockwool/plasterboard to improve the sound/insulation characteristics for the building ?

Cheers
Lutonian

Hey Lutonian,

It would be better if you could frame out from that existing wall. This will decouple the surfaces. More space in between the walls is better. Add insulation and layer as much mass (plasterboard) on the new framing as you can.

Re: SoundProofing Garage

Who are you trying to insulate from the sound?
