Mounting 37" LCD TV on Plasterboard

Hi

Newbie here. Probably answered this question lots of times but I want to mount a Toshiba 37WL66 on a plasterboard wall. Whats the best wall bracket to buy and will the TV stay on the wall or fall off from the weight? Is it easy enough to do yourself or leave to the professionals?

Re: Mounting 37" LCD TV on Plasterboard

Last weekend I mounted exactly the same TV on a plasterboard wall and it was very simple.

I used the slimline LCD wall mount, available as an AV forums powerbuy for £49 via this thread:

http://www.avforums.com/forums/showt...light=slimline

And attached the bracket directly to the plasterboard only (as my wall didn't have any wooden battens) using cavity wall anchors, which I bought from Homebase (see attached photos).

I did drill one extra hole in the top rail of the mount, giving me a total of seven fixing points and thing was as solid as a rock. The TV has now been on the wall for a week with no problems.

Any questions, ask away. Good luck!

Thanks inthedoghouse. TV looks excellent and now I know your one has stayed up I will do mine. One other question, were the cables easy enough to run down the inside of the wall?

In this case the cables were very easy to route as that wall backs onto the understairs cupboard, in which the Sky+ box and DVD player are located. It was just a matter of cutting of hole in the plasterboard just below the bracket and another hole in the plasterboard lining the cupboard - then dropping the cables through the top hole and pull them out through the bottom one.

Wish mine was that simple. I'm not too sure whats in between the wall. Hopefully just hollow. Its the wall seperator between the lounge and the bedroom so should be ok.

How do you not have 1 cable or box in site at all? How can you use your Sky+ remote? I'm getting this exact tv but I'm pretty lost. If I could get you to fly over to Dublin it'd be great!

Also, did you not use a wall mount? It looks really good with no space between wall and the tv.

Cheers.

Re: Mounting 37" LCD TV on Plasterboard

eireboy,

I used this mount:

http://www.avforums.com/forums/showt...ine+wall+mount

It's the best I found for keeping the TV as close to the wall as possible.

The Sky+ box and DVD player are in a cupboard under the stairs that runs behind the wall the TV is on. To control it all I use a Harmony 895 remote control with the RF extender.

I bought the Harmony from here:

http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=316754

There are more details on the Logitech website:

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/pr...ONTENTID=10930

It's not cheap but it's brilliant at controlling all the devices and keeping them out of sight.

Cheers. That's a bit too expensive but all I really need is something like this?

How does it work and what is the cheapest option? I'm basically doing exactly what you did. Putting the Sky box and DVD player in the room behind the TV.
