I am currently boarding out my garage with the intention of using it for.... you guessed it a home cinema =)

I have used 50mm batons to make the studwork and high density Rockwool in the cavity. This is topped off with 9mm MDF (just because i had it available) plasterboard on top of this and then it is to be skimmed. all of the joints will be sealed with silicone or something similar on each layer to make it air tight.

I have installed 20mm plastic conduit to bring the speaker wires down from the roof space.

Question 1 what is the best way to seal the conduit when the cables have been installed as I guess the sound will travel up them into the roof void?.

For the sockets I had planned to use plaster board quick fit boxes. are these likely to let too much sound escape and would I be better using standard surface boxes? (Obviously I don’t want them surface if I can help it.)

Has anyone had any experience of this??

Consider some loose insulation in the conduit. Or seal with some sort of removable caulk.
